Kristiansand is a summer tourist destination, attracting many visitors. in particular to its zoo, Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park, just east of the city. Protestfestival claims to attract anarchists, communists, hippies as well as conservative Christians and capitalists and to encourage communication among these radically different groups.
