Departing from Verdal Helikopterplass, the helicopter sightseeing tour heads towards the famous Stiklestad battleground. This is where St. Olav, the King of Norway at the time, lost his life in 1030. 'The Battle of Stiklestad' is one of the most famous battles in Norwegian history, and it is considered to be the beginning of Christianity in Norway. Next, the helicopter heads to Verdalselva, a popular river for fishing enthusiasts due to its excellent salmon fishing spots. After this, we enter the national park, and you will see several beautiful lakes and rivers. The wildlife is rich, with elks, bears, lynx, bevers, foxes and many more. If we are lucky, they can be spotted from the air! If it is the season, we may even see local Sami people hurdling their reindeer for slaughter or for marking of newborn calves. In modern days, helicopters are actually important tools for the reindeer industry. After we head back towards civilisation, we will pass the largest city in the county, Leveanger. We will then descend over Verdalsøra and land at the helpad. See also Trondheim Helicopter Tours and Mosjøen Helicopter Tours
